In the world today all types of waste are considered as valuable resources. Examples from many developing countries show that people are earning a living from the collection of waste rubber, plastics, paper and cardboard boxes to name a few.

A number of organizations are working with community-based organizations in Asia to come up with sound business ventures in waste collection. Communities are identifying the types of waste that has potential to bring them a livelihood.
